Profile

I’m a recent graduate from Cardiff University. While reading Sociology and Politics I combined my time with a responsible job, and took an active interest in University Organisation as a member of the Societies Council. I am enthusiastic, assertive  and find it easy to communicate with others. I love to travel and experience different cultures and believe that the extensive travelling I have been fortunate to have undertaken has enabled me to gain a tolerance and understanding of others.

Employment Record

September 2006-June 2008        Letherby and Christopher
                                  Millennium Stadium, Cardiff
While at the Millennium Stadium I worked in the hospitality department which involved greeting and serving guests. This required good inter- personal skills and the ability to present oneself in an appropriately dignified manner. Many guests were high ranking dignitries or royalty, and it was therefore imperative to maintain the highest standards of service. My duties involved organising bar staff and selecting wines for guests. I enjoyed my time at the stadium working events such as The RBS Rugby World Cup, The Six Nations, as well as a large number of concerts and functions.

June 2006-September 2006        The Moon in The Square,                                          The Square, Bournemouth
Working at the busiest pub and restaurant in Dorset involved dealing with customers from varied backgrounds, and to an extent the use of conflict resolution skills. It also required good team working abilities to maintain the smooth running of the premises. Numeracy and organisational skills were also essential as the daily turnover often exceeded £100,000.
January 2002-August 2005        The Shortwave Shop
                                  18 Fairmile Rd, Christchurch
A Saturday job in a specialist Radio Communications centre. It required the ability to interact and advise customers on the extensive range of products within the store.

Interests

I am a highly active individual with a love for the outdoors. My key interests are rock climbing, hiking and surfing, however I enjoy all physical activity and have played football for 3 years whilst at university in the inter-departmental league. I also take an interest in political activities, and while at university participated in the organisation of a palestinian unity group aimed at raising awareness of the current palestinian conflict. I have a love of music festivals and spend much of my time doing volunteer and paid organisational work creating these events. This is one of my passions as I find that these events offer an unrivaled space to express culture and diversity.
